The Booming Women’s Ethnic Wear Market:
Women’s Indian ethnic wear market is quite competitive and scrappy. With the ever changing lifestyle of women, Indian ethnic wear market keeps coming up with new ethnic designs and styles. In 60’s the ethnic kurtas and churidars were in the trend. It was the era when Indian women accepted clothes which were made from polyester. Plastic film was also used in that era to make different type of dresses. In 70’s, India started exporting the ethnic products or dress materials to other foreign countries. This resulted in the arrival of international fashion. In this way floral printed clothes and bell bottomed pants with rich and royal colours were introduced in India.
Fashion Scenario in the early 80’s and 90’s:
In the early 80’s the fashion scenario in India was completely different. It was the era of self consciousness. It was this era when Salwar Kameez was crafted with shoulder pads. Also silhouette became more masculine during this time period. The 80’s witnessed a high competition between different fashion designers. The price tags of the garments reached a peak during this era. But this was not the scenario in the 90’s. In the 90’s the price tags of the clothes started taking a downside journey. Not only this, but the business of fashion shows also started declining in this era. But this was not the end of Indian ethnic wear industry. There came a point when the steady level was reached. In the 21st century Indian ethnic wear market boomed again with some sensible designing and new innovative designers.
