So…What was the whole scenario behind the ideal thought of celebrating feminism??
The flashback goes like this…..
The “International Woman’s Day” came into existence during the activities going through with respect to the woman’s labour rights movements during the 20th Century in North America & across Europe. During this era, the “International Women’s Day” got more strength and started growing in a fast pace with the support of four global United Nations woman’s conferences. It helped to take the issue to the rallying point & build support for woman’s rights & their participation in political & economic areas.
1909 – The very first “National Women’s Day” was observed in the United States on 28th February & the Socialist Party of America designated this day in honor of the garment workers strike in New York, as women protested against the working conditions.
1917 – Women in Russia, during the war protested & did strike for “Bread & Peace” on the last Sun
day of February that fell on 8th March on Gregorian calendar. Four days later the higher officials and the government granted women the right to vote. The United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March.
1945 – The Charter of United Nations signed the first international agreement towards the equality between woman & Men. The UN helped to create strategies, Programmes & goals to support the status of women worldwide.
